The Royal Terrace Hotel offers a wonderful chance to savour the historical elegance of the Georgian era, just a few steps from the modern designer boutiques of Princes Street and its surroundings. It is also very rare among Edinburgh hotels in having its own private, landscaped garden, where you can sit out during the summer months and savour a pre-dinner cocktail after a hard day’s sightseeing. ***Please see note about current exterior renovations.***
Situated in the heart of Edinburgh, the Royal Terrace Hotel is, as its name suggests, housed in a Georgian terraced building, with its own garden. It therefore offers a country house atmosphere within a few minutes' walk of Princes Street.
The 107 well-proportioned guestrooms feature contemporary furnishings and décor. Most offer spectacular views of either the terraced gardens to the rear or the Firth of Forth to the front. All rooms are clean and well equipped, as are the en suite bathrooms.
The Terrace Brasserie, with access to the hotel's gardens, caters for intimate and relaxed dining. For a quick snack, day or night, the hotel offers a varied snack menu served either in the lounge or via 24-hour room service.
Weather permitting, the gardens are the ideal venue for al fresco dining and private functions. The hotel's leisure facilities are also very good, though some previous guests have commented that the pool is on the small side.
