This is my second visit to this hotel in a year and very impressed indeed.Very handily located at the end of Princes Street it's east to find and within a 5 min walk from Waverly station. Meet and greet staff friendly and efficient as are bar and restaurant staff. Cracking good buffet style breakfast but all freshly cooked and well presented and regularly replenished so no opportunity for food to dry out under the heat lamps. Restaurant prices are about standard for Edinburgh so don't expect any bargains. However that being said the meals I had were beautifully presented, fresh and tasty. Particularly impressed with their club sandwich which I ordered when I was only a bit peckish. Served on a wooden platter with a side salad and a portion of fries, very attractive to the eye and extremely tasty. Cost, as I recall, just over a tenner so maybe more than I would ordinarily pay but so worth the money and I struggled to finish it! The last time I was there I had their burger which is fabulous, not your usual frozen, pan fried hockey puck but freshly made and char-grilled.Again, I struggled to finish the plateful and presentation was second to none. Room price about standard for the area so no complaints in this either with the room being clean and comfortable. Internet access is available at a cost unless you have BT broadband at home and you can use your account on the system. I would have liked to have seen free internet access but, I suppose, you can't have everything. The only downside for me was....... I was only able to stay one night as I had to travel back home the next day. I will be in Edinburgh on business again over the next year or so and there's only one place I would stay and that's very definitely here. One cautionary note though. If you are thinking of driving to Edinburgh be aware there are an enormous amount of roadworks being carried out not the least of which is the ill thought out and wildly over budget tram system. there are also gas/water mains works and, I believe some cabling work accounting for, according to one taxi drive in excess off 400 separate works!!! so beware.

This is Edinburgh, what can I say? A long history which is evidenced almost wherever you go in town,a huge variety of museums, galleries and events including of course the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe events. If you have children with you the Museum of Childhood on the Royal mile is well worth a visit. It was my favourite place to go as a child although most children these days might wonder how we managed to play with toys that required neither batteries or chargers! Brilliant little museum, free admission and there's a little shop at reception which stocks a number of old fashioned toys at reasonable prices. The city is delightful to look at particularly areas like the New Town and Dean Village which retain the majority of their 17th and 18th century charm plus various bus/ guided tours available at reasonable cost. Numerous good pubs and restaurants and there's a good night club scene catering for various age and taste groups if that's your bag. Some excellent shopping although Princes Street is looking a wee bit sorry for itself due to the tram works and there are a number of closed units here but, that should improve in time and there are a number of units on the street being worked on at the moment. overall, if you can handle the inconvenience of the roadworks and don't mind slightly longer and more expensive taxi rides still well worth visiting.

Great base to explore Edinburgh. Rooms were a good size, clean and well equipped. All the staff were very friendly. Prices were a little expensive for drinks/meals but not really used to staying in hotels. Would recommend to anyone wanting a central hotel for their stay.

The Kenworth on Rose Street does the biggest breakfasts I've seen and at 2 for £10 they were a bargain!

Shaving point in bathroom faulty but staff responded promptly. Bath a bit chipped but perfectly usable. Quiet room, huge bed. Radiator either full blast or off, which needs sorting. Fantastic location for walking everywhere (Royal Scottish Museum, Nat Portrait Gallery, John Lewis, Prince's St etc). Discount on carparking costs
